Little Emery will be one week old tomorrow (Monday). Can you believe it? It has be a big week for her and us! She has met a few of our friends and Jeremy's parents this past week. Colby came for Spring Break which turned out to be perfect timing for him to meet her as well. But the biggest meeting of all, the one I was most nervous about anyway was with her big sister Adeline! We were not sure how she would take this new baby in her home! So far it has gone better than we ever could have imagined! Adie LOVES her! She can't hold her, kiss her or talk to Emmy enough. And now in the mornings instead of saying good morning to Mommy first, Emmy has taken my place!
Emery going home from the hospital
We checked out of the hospital last Wednesday afternoon and brought Emmy to her new home. She met Cooper the dog who has been totally awesome with Adie, but I swear he took one look at the baby bundle and his ears and eyes said "are you kidding me another one?" Colby arrived on Friday night but instead of bringing him home we had to send him, Jeremy and Adie over to Grandjan and Grandpa's. Adie already had a runny nose and horrible cough followed by a 101.4 temperature and Colby had been exposed to strep throat back in Austin. We decided better safe than sorry and sent them all away. I was so sad! Everyone is home now and seemingly healthy so we will keep our fingers crossed on that one!
A little bit about Emmy the first week:
- born at 7 lbs. 1/2 oz and her weight dropped to 6 lbs. 3 oz within a few days... we had to supplement her with formula to get her weight back up. If you ask me she is a formula baby supplemented with breast milk. Not much breast milk around here but that's a whole different blog
- Emmy eats about every 3 to 4 hours usually about 2 oz.
- she sleeps most of the time in between feedings
- she has a great temperament and doesn't fuss hardly at all
- she squeaks, she started this right after birth and still continues to do it, Jeremy calls her pip squeak
- I've already been pooped on, projectile I might add
- she got her first bath today (Sunday) it went well, she didn't seem to mind it
Adeline this month: 2 years 5months
- she slept in her big girl bed/big girl room for the first time last night and did great (pictures of her new room later)
- loves her new sister and is quite a nurturer
- she has become quite defiant and loves to tell you "no" followed by a "make me" look
- loves to sing
- loves to be outside
- her favorite thing to eat is cheese and crackers, m&m's and suckers, and for breakfast we both have pb&j toast
- she prefers a shower over a bath, but loves to lay on her back in the tub
- is wearing pull-ups although we are only semi-working on potty training
- her favorite toys are her babies which she loves to put "night-night" and covers them with all of my fabric samples
and since Colby is here this week, I will tell a little about him too!
- Colby is now 11 and will be 12 next month on April 9th
- he is in 6th grade
- likes to read
- loves his video games
- doesn't listen!
- loves to draw and write stories
All in all we have 3 really great kids!

Yay! Congrats on your new baby. I was pooped and peed on in the first week also. Oh the joy of diaper changing :)
